XL Groups
1. What is an XL Group?
An XL Group is a small group of couples or individuals from the same station in life that meet in homes during the week to belong in healthy relationships with others and to become more like Christ. Usually 6-8 individuals or 6-8 couples
2. Why should I join an XL Group?
We believe that you can only move so far on your spiritually journey without others. Being in a group will help you develop lasting friendships that will push you further faster on your spiritual journey. Also, groups are just a great place to make friends and realize you are not alone in whatever you are going through. Groups celebrate successes and help each other through the tough times.
3. What is a Connection Group?
A Connection Group is a small group of couples or individuals from the same station in life that meet at XL for 2 weeks to connect with a new group. Everyone is new so it is a great time to meet new people and start developing lasting friendships.
4. What happens at an XL Group meeting?
You show up and eat some snacks and hang out for about 10 - 15 minutes. After that we move to our Message Based Curriculum time for about 40 minutes. That means that we talk about the message from the previous weekend in a creative way. It allows everyone to have the opportunity to ask questions about things they didn’t understand. Also, the discussion is highly practical to your life. Notice we said discussion. Our leaders facilitate conversation, they do not preach. It is for everyone at every point in their journey.
5. Where do the XL groups meet?
They meet all over our area in host homes. You can usually find a group within 10-15 minutes of your house.
6. Is there childcare available?
It depends on the group. The group finds its own place to house the children. A childcare worker or two usually take care of the little ones during the group time. It is up to the group to find childcare. We will provide a list of possible workers and a suggested pay scale.
What if I don't like the first group I try?
Try another one! We understand that every person is not going to click the first night, so we ask that you hang in your group for at least 3 weeks. If you would like to try a different group, please send an email to groups@xlwired.com
7. Can I start my own group?
We are always looking for new leaders and hosts. We would love to get your information and talk with you about starting a group at some point. We will have multiple times in the year when we launch new groups so just fill out our XL Groups handout and we will contact you.
